Es decir que la potencia pico de tus placas refleja lo máximo que producirán en unas circunstancias específicas. Este dato nos sirve de referente para saber si son más o menos potentes y compararlas con otros modelos, pero no nos sirve como expectativa de lo que vamos a alcanzar cuando haga sol y calor.

Es más, cuando la temperatura es mayor de 25 grados, la placa disminuye su rendimiento. Es por eso que a menudo verás que los días soleados de invierno tu placa alcanza su potencia pico. En cambio, en verano su producción instantánea de energía a veces es menor de lo que imaginabas.

Cómo calcular tu rendimiento

Antes que nada, te recomendamos que consultes la ficha técnica de tus placas solares. En ella verás un apartado sobre los niveles de temperatura. Aquí es donde podrás consultar cuánto se reduce la potencia de tu placa según el calor que reciba.

En las indicaciones del fabricante verás el coeficiente de temperatura que, por ejemplo, en el caso de las REC Alphα Pure Black Series que instala Engel Energy es de -0,26%/ºC. Esto significa que la potencia máxima se reducirá un 0,26% por cada grado que sobrepasemos de los 25 que ya decíamos que hemos tomado como referencia. Según la mayoría de los fabricantes, a 40 grados el rendimiento de las placas puede llegar a reducirse en torno al 80%, aunque eso dependerá de las placas que instales.

Además, hay que tener en cuenta que las placas, al estar expuestas a la radiación solar, también se calientan, por lo que a la temperatura ambiente habrá que sumar el incremento de temperatura de la placa.

Pongamos el ejemplo de un día soleado con 30 grados de temperatura. Si la placa se ha calentado por efecto del sol unos 20 grados, la célula fotovoltaica estaría alcanzando los 50 grados. Esto es el doble de los 25 que habíamos tomado como referencia. En ese caso hipotético, si la potencia se reduce un 0,26%/ºC, estaríamos hablando de un 6,5% de reducción de potencia (0,26% x 25ºC). Es decir, los paneles estarían rindiendo al 93,5% de su potencia máxima.

Esto se traduce en que si nuestro panel tiene una potencia de 410wp, en esas condiciones obtendríamos 383,35wp (405 x 0,935). Y ahí está la reducción de potencia de la que hablamos, ocasionada por el calor.

Producción que compensa

Como ves, pese a que en las condiciones del ejemplo no alcancemos la potencia pico, la producción sigue siendo muy alta. Además, los días soleados de verano son ideales para la generación de energía solar. Por un lado, porque suelen ser días claros, con pocas nubes que entorpezcan la radiación solar, y por otro lado porque es cuando los días son más largos y tenemos horas y horas de sol y de producción.

Por lo tanto, ya ves que en verano puedes tener una leve reducción de la potencia de tus placas solares, aunque a lo largo de la jornada acabarás acumulando una gran cantidad de energía. Haz números y verás como compensa.
